The Prince of Persia

After displaying bravery on the streets, Dastan, a street urchin in Persia, is adopted by King Sharaman. A further fifteen years pass by, and the king's brother Nizam conveys information to the princes—Dastan and the king's biological sons, Tus and Garsiv—that the holy city of Alamut is creating weapons for the enemies of Persia and the kingdom. Tus orders the Persian army to take the town of Almut. Dastan and his allies break through the city walls and open a gate for the siege to begin. During the raid, Dastan defeats a royal guard member and steals a precious blade from him.

Even though the Persians conquer Alamut, Princess Tamina maintains that the city does not have any weapon forges. Tus approaches her and urges her to marry him to bring the two countries together. She only agrees after seeing the dagger in Dastan's hands. Tus arranges for Dastan to present their father with an embroidered robe during their festive meal. Sharaman is poisoned, and the garment burns him to death. Despite Garsiv's accusations, Dastan and Tamina flee the scene of the crime. Tus is crowned king, and a reward of 100,000 gold is placed on Dastan's head.

While hiding, Tamina tries to assassinate Dastan and seize the dagger; however, during the battle, Dastan finds that the blade can transport the owner back in time. Tus invades Alamut in search of the sword, and Dastan concludes that Tus is responsible, and he resolves to face his brother at the burial of the king at Avrat. A group of merchant bandits commanded by Sheik Amar apprehend the two as they travel, but they can escape. Following his arrival in Avrat, Dastan attempts to persuade Nizam of his innocence. When Dastan notices burns on Nizam's hands, he knows Nizam was the mastermind behind the king's death. Nizam has set up a trap for Dastan through the Persian streets, but Dastan escapes after a struggle with Garcia. Nizam dispatches a detachment of clandestine soldiers known as the Hassansins to assassinate Dastan and recover the dagger.

The gods launched a vast sandstorm to kill humankind long ago. Still, they were moved by a young girl's vow to sacrifice herself in humanity's place, and the Sands of Time were imprisoned in a gigantic sandglass, which Tamina tells Dastan about when they are in the middle of a sandstorm. Tamina is the latest guardian of the dagger, which was given to the young girl by the gods and might destroy the world. However, the dagger's wielder can travel further back in time than the one minute's worth of sand that the sword holds, making her the most recent guardian of the dagger. After learning that Nizam plans to return to his boyhood and prevent himself from protecting Sharaman from being attacked by lions, Dastan concludes that Nizam's true intentions are to grow up and become King of Persia in the place of Sharaman. Amar catches the two individuals again, but Dastan uses the dagger to defend Amar's troops from a Hassansin assault. It persuades Amar to accompany them to a sanctuary in the Hindu Kush, where Tamina would seal the sword within the stone from whence it was initially got. When they arrive at the refuge, they are discovered by Garsiv, whom Dastan convinces of his innocence. Still, the Hassansins ambush them, murdering Garsiv and seizing the dagger.

Dastan's party returns to Alamut to reclaim the dagger from Nizam and notify Tus of Nizam's presence. So, Amar's right-hand man dies while recovering the sword for Dastan, who then uses the blade to display its abilities to Tus to persuade him of the truth. Following that, Nizam stops them, kills Tus, and returns the dagger to them both. Tamina rescues Dastan from being assassinated, and the two of them flee to the hidden tunnels under the city that lead to the mystical sandglass. Nizam stabs them in the back with the sandglass and tosses them both down a cliff as they get close to him. Tamina makes the ultimate sacrifice by releasing Dastan's hand and plummeting to her death to let him face Nizam on his own.

After thrusting the dagger into the mystical column of sandglass under the temple, Dastan gets hold of the sword's hilt with Nizam. When sand is released from the sandglass, time is rewinded to the instant Dastan discovered the dagger. Nizam and Dastan are killed. He tracks down Tus and Garsiv and reveals Nizam's treasonous behavior. In response, Nizam challenges him; however, Dastan overcomes him easily but spares his life; Nizam rises and tries to strike again, only to be subdued and slain by Tus. Tus expresses his regret to Tamina for the siege and offers that the Princess and Dastan be married to cement the link between the two countries. Tamina receives the dagger from Dastan as an engagement present, and Dastan expresses his excitement about their future together.
