It communicates the message that the author wants to be alone since it is during this time that he reflects on the events of his life and thus find peace. And that was something I could connect to. Meditating is a habit of mine, and I've found it to be beneficial. I'm constantly thinking about how I went about doing things. If I were to do anything unethical, I would feel awful about myself and vow that I would never do it again.
